To help us improve our website for the needs of our members, we keep
track of the webpages visited by our members in a 'traffic log'. This
information is used solely to determine which features of our website
are being used. This information is not disclosed to anyone and any
member identification (ie. your 'User ID' and 'IP address') in the
'traffic log' is deleted periodically (at least once a month).
To help us locate any 'bugs' and/or sign-in difficulties, we keep
track of the webpages generating problems for our members in an 'error
log'. This information is used solely to fix any 'bugs' and/or
determine which members may be having difficulty signing on to our
website. This information is not disclosed to anyone and any member
identification (ie. your 'User ID' and 'IP address') in the 'error log'
is used solely to help any members who are having difficulty signing on
to our website and is deleted periodically (at least once a month).
Whenever a member signs-in to our website, our webserver places a
small entry in a text file, called a 'cookie', on your hard drive (this
file contains no viruses or personal information and Cookies can not
read data off your hard disk); this information is also stored on our
webserver. The cookie contains information about your web 'browser'
(ie. Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer)
such as your browser version and your monitor's size. This information
is used to ensure that photographs and other information fit onto your
screen with a minimum of 'scrolling'. We also aggregate this data to
determine what 'browser-specific' webdesign methods we can safely use
so that all members can take advantage of new features that we add
periodically to our website. This information is not disclosed to
anyone.
At no point will we reveal any information about you or your
dealership to anyone outside of our company, and at no point is your
e-mail address revealed to anyone outside of our company, nor will any
'spam' (ie. junk e-mail) be sent to your e-mail address from our
company. The only e-mails you will receive by being a member of
AutoWay.ca are those concerning the details of any online vehicle
purchases you have made, and any that you have specifically requested
(such as notification of our finding vehicles you have asked us to look
for, or notifications that you have been out-bid on a vehicle on our
online auction)
Due to the technical nature of the internet, we cannot guarantee
that any information you supply won't be intercepted while being
transmitted to us over the Internet.
